Jerry dropped a teaser for a new Alpha Shaving Works razor called the Kid Slugger. Aluminum build, $80, and it comes in red or blue, with the tip and base plate matched to whichever color you pick.

That’s the whole spec sheet so far. Jerry called it “a little Shave Dad inspiration” baked into the design, and left it there. No blade gap number. No exposure setting. No word on weight. David asked straight out whether the thing leans mild or aggressive, and as of the thread, nobody had answered him.

What’s actually confirmed

Three facts, and only three: aluminum construction, $80, and a choice of red or blue for the tip and base plate. Everything else in the thread is speculation or a question nobody answered yet.

Aluminum keeps the razor light, which tracks with Alpha’s other runs. Whether that lightness pairs with a forgiving blade gap or a sharper one is exactly what David wanted to know and exactly what the post didn’t say.

How Alpha actually sells these

Alpha doesn’t keep regular stock. They run limited drops where you put down a deposit ahead of time, and if you’re not watching for the announcement, you miss the window. Andy asked flat out how to even get on the list, since the brand’s own site didn’t show the last couple of releases. Lee had the answer:

Jerry backed that up in the thread himself, saying he’d put up a list when the time came. No list yet. No link yet. Just the word that one’s coming.

Glenn asked about UK availability. That one’s still open too.

The group’s reaction

Reactions ran from genuine excitement to the kind of self-aware dread that shows up every time Alpha teases something new. Nick needled Jerry about being out another chunk of money. Harry put it best:

That’s the Alpha pattern by now. A teaser, a wave of “I’m in,” a handful of unanswered spec questions, and a wait for the actual order link. If you’ve bought one of their past limited runs, you already know the drill: watch this group, not the Alpha website, because the website doesn’t carry what’s sold out.

If you’re still working out what blade gap and exposure even mean for your own shaves, our razor blade buyer’s guide is a good place to get oriented before this one actually ships.

Happy shaving.
