Blackland Vector: A Fourth of July Shave
Hello and welcome to my shave. Happy 4th of July to all my American friends. I hope you’re safe, having a wonderful day, and spending it with the people you love doing all the things you love. And if you’re working, thank you for your service.
This razor is an American razor. Fitting for the day.
The Gear
The Blackland Vector, satin finish stainless steel. The handle measures 92mm and the razor comes in right around 77 grams. Inside: a Feather Professional on its third use. Still plenty left in that blade.
The brush is the Hone B. What I like about this handle is the Allen key fitting at the bottom. Loosen the screw and you can swap in whatever 24mm knot you prefer. I’m running the Cashmere Knot. The bowl is from Pereira Shavery, a solid wood bowl.
The soap is Stirling Black with the matching Stirling Black aftershave splash. That splash is a Polo Black dupe, and Polo Black is a scent I really, really like. I don’t think Polo Black is still being made, so having a good dupe matters. The Stirling version is the one.
One more thing: I have a new microphone. My logo is on it. This is the first recording with it, so if the sound is a little off, that’s why. Also trying not to drop soap on it.
The Blackland Vector

The Vector sits in my top nine favorite stainless steel AC razors. The grip is excellent. The handle gets thicker toward the bottom, which means it sits naturally in the hand. I don’t need to press hard with this one. Just a little pressure. Let the blade work.
The head is small and nimble. Getting under the nose is easy.
AC blades run wider than a double edge, giving you more cutting edge per stroke. More real estate covered with each pass. That’s the geometry of it.
I also own this razor in the super polished stainless steel finish. The satin came into my collection because Blackland ran a Father’s Day sale. Buy a new Vector, get a pouch. The pouch wasn’t sold separately. So I bought the satin to get the pouch. No regrets. Now I have both finishes.
The Shave

Wonderful shave. The Vector delivered, same as always. The Feather Professional on its third use is still sharp. The Stirling Black soap worked great in the bowl.
The aftershave has alcohol in it. You feel it. Nice burn. Exactly what it’s supposed to do.

Here in Greenland, we don’t celebrate the 4th the way they do in the States. But I have plenty of American friends out there, barbecues and fireworks and family gatherings. I hope they had a great one.
In a few days my daughter returns from Italy. We’re all very much looking forward to that. And on the 11th, there’s a wedding in the family. She’s been with her partner for six or seven years now, and everyone in the family loves him. A winner. We’ve been busy getting things ready and I’m looking forward to the whole celebration.
Perfecto Mundo. Like, subscribe, hit the bell, and share. We do this because we are not obsessed. We are dedicated.
