Hey everybody, this is DJ Chubbs. Welcome to my shaving channel. It’s Sunday, September 15th, and I want to do a shave today using the Pumping Iron from Shave Dad and The Wet Shaving Store, along with Strike Gold Shave.
The reason for using these today is that about a week ago, I received the open comb shave plate for the Shave Dad razor that fits the Aluminum Outlaw by Alpha. I’ve been wanting to try it out for a while. I’ll be using my heavy copper Captain’s Choice Bowl and my The Wet Shaving Store brush. When I’m finished, I’ll use a little bit of the UK’s Brute aftershave, which is like a perfume.
Alright, let me wet my head here, and we’ll get this show on the road. I don’t know if you can see it, but I do have hair to shave. I’m going to apply my Rabid Banana pre-shave cube. I also want to do a shave with my 316 Edwin Jagger stainless steel razor, but I haven’t used it yet. I’m waiting for some items to arrive before I do a shave with it.
Now, let me put some lather on. I’ll take off my glasses. The scent is really nice; it reminds me of a clean barber shop. I’m not entirely sure of the specifics, but it smells fresh. As for the aggression on this razor with the new open comb plate, we’ll find out in just a moment.
This is the fun part! Okay, I could do that all day, but I’ll stop. Here we go with the open comb plate and see what we have. It cleans really well. This is a second-use Rex Supply blade, which has quickly become one of my favorites. I really enjoy using them, and they have been consistent every time I’ve used them. I usually stop after four or five shaves, not because I think I couldn’t go longer, but because I want to try a new one to see if there is any significant difference.
I have a little patch on the top of my head that I need to address. I might need to turn around to get the back. The plate feels really smooth. Oh, I lost my grip there for a second. I’ll try to get my grip back. Alright, let me turn around to fine-tune the shave because I can’t hold a mirror and do that at the same time. It seems to be doing well. There are just a couple of little spots. I can’t wait to get the new Texas Shave razor that Steve from Alpha Razors has coming out at the end of the month. The pictures I’ve seen look amazing.
Let’s wet my head again. The soap is really slick, and I’m enjoying this razor. While I think I prefer the closed comb plate better, this open comb is still a fantastic addition. It’s slightly more aggressive, but not overwhelmingly so.
The Alpha Aluminum Outlaw, in collaboration with Shave Dad, is a really nice razor. It has good balance and feels great in the hand. I can feel a little bit more blade exposure with this one, but not much. I think I just cut a little chunk off the back of my head; I felt something there. Oh, I see blood—I did get it good.
This razor definitely has a bit of a bite. It’s still a comfortable shave, but you can’t apply too much pressure since it’s a light razor—just let the razor do the work. I think this might be better suited for about four days of growth or so.
Let me clean my head up and see how bad I cut myself. It felt like I took off a chunk. Okay, let me put my glasses back on to assess the damage. There must have been a bump or something because it’s still bleeding.
I’m going to use some witch hazel—it feels good. Now, I’ll shake up my aftershave, the Pumping Iron. This might burn a little. Here we go.
Wow, very efficient razor! I can see some little red dots, but I don’t feel anything—it feels good and slick. Yes, that was a good shave—a little weeper, but overall great.
So, this is what we used today: the Pumping Iron collaboration from The Wet Shaving Store, Shave Dad, and Strip Gold Shaves, along with Fav’s witch hazel. I’m going to apply a little Brute, which seems like a great match.
This was the first time using the open comb plate for the Alpha Aluminum Outlaw razor by Steve Tenner and Shave Dad Jerry, and I really enjoyed the shave. I appreciate you all for watching. If you liked the video, feel free to like and subscribe, but no pressure.
This is DJ Chubbs, coming to you from back in the holler, slap dab in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains—God’s country. That’s all folks!
