Testing Lukewarm Water for Better Soap Slickness
Daniel came at Sunday’s shave with a specific question: would switching to lukewarm water clear up the residue building up on his razors after every use?
Short answer: no. But he found something worth keeping anyway.
Working with Rex Supply Co’s 1966 Shave Soap and cooler water, he noticed the lather got slicker. His take is that hot water strips oils off the face, and once those are gone the soap doesn’t behave as well. Lukewarm leaves more in play. The residue’s still a mystery for another day, but the slickness improvement was real enough that he’s sticking with the change.
He still ran the alum block and witch hazel at the end. No irritation. Good Sunday shave.
