Yaqi Ghost Blur 3.0 aluminum safety razor next to its shaving kit

Hello, I’m Sig Solo. Welcome to my channel and welcome to this shave.

This shave is a new razor, the new Ghost from Yaqi. It’s actually a new version of a razor that’s been around for more than a year, the one they call the Blur. This one right here is the collab version.

Let’s get the numbers straight, because I get asked this a lot. Version one was a 0.70mm gap. Version two was 0.90mm, and it’s no longer available, Grace told me. This is version three, the Blur 3.0, and the gap on this one is 1.1mm. It’s stamped right on the razor, so if you’ve got one of these and you’re not sure which one it is, check the number on it. That’s the Blur 3.0.

The Razor

This one’s aluminum, same family as my other Yaqi razors. It’s a collab piece, and I couldn’t get the soap that goes with it, because Yaqi can’t ship soap directly to where I live. Grace sent me the razor on its own instead. Thank you for that, Grace.

I’ve also still got my stainless steel versions of this line, the 0.70 and the 0.90 gap, from a video I did two years ago. Check the Yaqi playlist below if you want to see those.

The Blade

I’m running a Wizamet blade, and this is its 11th use. It goes to 11. Some of you will get that. That’s the longest I’ve ever stretched a DE blade. Last shave was number 10.

The Blur 3.0’s 1.1mm gap felt smooth and comfortable, no complaints there. But by shave 11 I could feel the blade starting to struggle a little. I’ve got almost four days of beard growth going into this one, so that’s probably doing some of the work too. I’m not writing the blade off. Not yet.

Random question for you: is Blur the name of a Japanese comic character? No idea. Drop it in the comments if you know.

The Soap and Splash

The soap is Yaqi’s Legacy, and I didn’t get it the easy way. Yaqi can’t ship it directly to where I live, so it went to my sister in Denmark first, and she forwarded it on to me. The shipping wasn’t cheap, I joked to her it cost about as much as chartering a fighter jet. Thank you anyway, Yaqi and Grace.

Legacy is meant to be a dupe of the Cristiano Ronaldo Legacy fragrance. I haven’t tried the real perfume, but the soap itself is nice. I got the matching splash too.

Working the lather up, I got a real billionaire scent off this one. Picture Cristiano Ronaldo climbing into a Bugatti Veyron, that’s the vibe. Posh, the kind of scent you’d expect a guy like that to wear. You don’t need to be a billionaire to use it though. I’m proof of that.

The splash came out semi-clear on camera because I knocked the bottle before filming. Give it a proper shake and it clouds back up, that’s just what it looks like fully mixed. Either way, if I ever get the keys to a Bugatti Veyron, this is the scent I’m wearing. Not likely to happen, but a guy can dream.

The Brush and Bowl

The brush is Yaqi’s Band Stand Dice, but I pulled the dice insert out for this one so you can see the handle underneath. Without the dice in it, the handle runs about 15mm longer than the standard Band Stand. Worth knowing if you like a bit more length in hand.

Rounding it out, the bowl is Yaqi’s collapsible bowl in white, also sent over by Yaqi. Simple, does the job, packs flat.

The Shave

Once I got going, the Blur 3.0 with the Wizamet on shave 11 held up well. Smooth, comfortable, the kind of pass I want out of a razor. Like I said, it started chugging a little near the end, but between an eleven-times-used blade and almost four days of growth, that’s not on the razor.

One More Thing

Before I wrap up, something’s been on my mind. Thoughts and prayers to everyone who lost family or friends in the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center. A lot of you watching have friends, relatives, or people you knew who lost someone that day. Most of us remember exactly where we were when the news came in. It didn’t feel real until the second plane hit. Until then, nobody could imagine it was done on purpose.

That ties into something else I want to say. In a macho world, nobody wants to be the one who says something’s wrong. You wait until you’re all the way down before you even think about asking for help. My advice: if you’re feeling down, ask for help. Tell a friend, tell your family, tell your spouse. Don’t keep it in. Dark thoughts don’t get better by hiding them from the people who love you.

That’s it for this one. Like, subscribe, hit the bell, and share if you got something out of it. And remember why we do this: we’re not obsessed, we’re dedicated.
