Yaqi Précise Review: A Blutt Rasur 120 Clone That Delivers

Welcome to my shave den. Grace at Yaqi sent me the Précise, the Caramel Cat’s Whiskers brush, the plastic white bowl, and the Ouds splash. The soap, Yaqi Ouds by Master Soap Creations, came from Fernando. So everything you see in this shave was a gift.

The Razor

The Précise only comes as a head. I have it on the titanium handle Yaqi also makes. I weighed mine at 77g with that handle.

Now, if this razor looks familiar to you, I understand completely. My favourite razor of 2024 was the Blutt Rasur 120. Put these two side by side and they’re identical. I tried the Blutt top cap on the Yaqi head, and the Yaqi top cap on the Blutt. Both fit. Same blade reveal, same clamping, same peel pins. The hue on the Blutt’s top cap is a little darker. Everything else matches.

Numbers: Yaqi lists this at a 1.15mm gap. The Blutt 120 is 1.20mm. In all stainless, the Blutt 120 runs 95g. My Yaqi with the titanium handle came in at 77g by my own scales. That’s a real difference if weight matters to you.

I wrote to Pascal at Blutt a couple of times, a message and an email, asking what’s going on. The Blutt side has been quiet for months. No reply yet. I’ll add a note in the comments if I hear back.

There will be people who say Yaqi shouldn’t make a direct copy. I tend to agree. You should give a design your own twist. But maybe if they had, it wouldn’t be this good. The Blutt Rasur 120 works because it works.

The Soap and Brush

Brush is the Yaqi Caramel Cat’s Whiskers, 26mm. Plastic white bowl also from Yaqi.

The soap is Yaqi Ouds by Master Soap Creations. Fernando sent it along. I have the matching Ouds splash in this shave too. I love this scent. It’s my favourite oud soap, one of my favourite Yaqi scents full stop. I believe it’s inspired by the Gucci Oud. A going-out scent. Summer evenings. Somewhere you want to be present, want to be noticed.

The Shave

Quick weather note before we start: yesterday here it was ten degrees and sunny. Some of us went out in t-shirts. I stayed up late watching football, yes, football, and at half past one in the morning it started to snow. Snowed until six. Then by eight everything was gone. Well, the sun didn’t really go anywhere. We have midnight sun here. The clouds disappeared and took the snow with them. Off the roofs, off the cars. Ground was already too warm, so it never settled.

Anyway. The shave.

The balance on this titanium handle falls right where I hold it. Perfect. The shave is spot-on. Same angle as the Blutt 120. Equally smooth. Same finish, or close enough. The Blutt’s a shade darker, probably just from more use. Shave-wise I can’t tell them apart.
