Family First — Shave Dad × Adopted Acres
A family soap company, in spirit and in fact
Family First is a spring 2026 Shave Dad collaboration with** Adopted Acres Soap Co.**, the artisan house run by Doug and Cara Layne out of Asheville, Ohio. Adopted Acres launched in 2024 with a story that’s hard to separate from the soap: Doug uses tallow from the family’s 1,000-acre Angus cattle farm, and Doug and Cara — parents of six adopted children, five of whom are still at home with special needs — built the company as a vehicle to create meaningful work for their adult kids.
The “Family First” name is, deliberately, on the nose. From the Adopted Acres announcement:
Family First isn’t just a name to us. It’s how we live. Showing up, putting your people first, and pushing through whatever comes your way.
What’s in it
A one-and-done release — no second drop. The soap pairs with a new alcohol splash, both built on Adopted Acres’ new EIEIO base:
- Wagyu tallow
- Duck fat
- Lard
- Castor oil
Adopted Acres describes it as a rich, creamy, ultra-slick shave; the splash is designed around skin feel rather than the typical aftershave burn.
How to buy
The release rolled out in two stages:
- April 26, 2026 — first availability at the** Maggard’s Meetup in Adrian, MI**
- May 9, 2026 — Etsy launch on Adopted Acres’ storefront
Status
Active as of May 2026 — Etsy launch is the only place to grab it once the meetup stock runs out.
