Frank Shaving's Matte Copper Twist-to-Open: My New Favorite Razor
Hello, I’m Sig Solo. Welcome back to the channel, and welcome to my shave den.
The Razor: Frank Shaving’s Matte Twist-to-Open

This shave’s razor is one Ming Lee over at Frank Shaving very kindly sent me, same as he did with the brush (more on that in a minute). It’s the matte twist-to-open from Frank Shaving. This one weighs 64 grams. There’s a longer version too, something like 80 grams, I think. The handle on this one runs 87mm.
It’s a copper razor underneath, matte chrome plated on top. You can get it in matte chrome, gunmetal, or golden finishes, but strip away the plating on any of them and it’s copper the whole way through. I have no idea what the blade gap actually is. Looks like it’s somewhere around 0.6 to 0.7mm to me. Exposure might be a touch positive. Honestly, I don’t know. I’m just eyeballing it.
Ming Lee told me this is his most popular razor. If you use my code, SIGSOLO71, you get 20% off, and that’s on everything, even stuff that’s already on sale. Use it and you also get a Sig Solo brush thrown into your package for free, the orange and black one with the synthetic knot.

This Shave’s Brush: The Final Sig Solo Handle
This shave’s brush is the final version of the Sig Solo brush handle. I went with a more subtle Sig Solo name stamp this time, plus the stripes. This one’s running the G5B synthetic knot, the German one with the antibacterial finish. I’m using the black bowl Pete Hendrix was kind enough to send me too.

The Sig Solo brush, final edition, actually comes in two knots. There’s a Manchurian silver-tip badger version, and it’s the softest badger I’ve used, which is saying something because I’ve been through most of them. And there’s the synthetic I’ve got in my hand today, the one with the black handle.
Quick Detour: A New TV
My TV died, so I had to go buy a new one. I got a solid discount because I know the store manager and buy a lot of gear there for the government too, so I used that connection. Ended up paying around a thousand bucks for a Samsung Frame, 40% off. I’ve wanted one of these since I saw my brother’s set years back. It’s the one that’s under an inch thick, and when it’s off it shows an e-ink image, so it just looks like a framed picture hanging there. Anyway. Back to the shave.
Soap and Aftershave: Stirling’s Orange and Lemon Chill

This shave’s soap is Stirling’s Orange Chill, with a little menthol worked in. For the splash, I’m using Stirling’s Lemon Chill, the glacial version, the most mentholated one they make.
The Shave Itself
Oh yeah, this is smooth. I’ve got the Wizamet blade loaded, three shaves in on this one. If you’re wondering whether this compares to the B1 Lancer from Ariana & Evans, it doesn’t. This one’s smoother, with less blade feel, and lighter in the hand too.
I started with three days of stubble. This might be the most comfortable twist-to-open I’ve tried, full stop, and I understand now why it’s Frank Shaving’s most popular razor. Cop it at a discount with my code. Hard to beat that. It’s a real twist-to-open too, the kind you twist from the bottom, same as a Super Speed, not a press-button setup.
The finish on it is stellar. It comes in a black case, almost a cloth-fiber texture to it, thick enough that you could use it as a travel case on its own. I didn’t bring the box in for this one, but it’s not a big case, and I like that. I keep my Frank razors in cases like this: I’ve got the stainless steel one in matte, the stainless steel one polished, a copper three-piece, and now this one. Maggard sent me the three-piece copper one (I keep almost calling him Frank by accident, sorry about that).

First pass, three days of stubble is basically gone already. Second pass across the grain, and everything I missed is cleaned up. The head on this thing is flat, even being a twist-to-open, so I can get right up under my nose with it without any drama. Two passes, done. Super comfortable the whole way through, and soft after.
Aftershave is the Lemon Chill, the glacial one. This is nice. The menthol’s there, but it’s not overwhelming, just enough to notice.
Alright, that’s the shave. If you’re liking what you’re seeing, like the video, subscribe, hit the bell, and share it around. You know why we do this: we’re not obsessed, we’re dedicated. And remember, if you’re heading to Frank Shaving anyway, my code SIGSOLO71 gets you 20% off, and you’ll get a free brush in your package too. Sig Solo, out.
