My Unboxing of the Rockwell Setpoint Adjustable Razor
My unboxing of the brand new Rockwell Setpoint adjustable razor. If you know my channel, you saw my review of the 6S and the 6C, and you saw me tell you flat out how much I love both of them. The 6S came out in 2015. I bought mine in 2018, and a little more than a year later I picked up the 6C too, because I’m a collector. A shave nerd. I just wanted that gunmetal finish, and I love it.

So in that review I recommended the 6S and the 6C hard. I also made it clear I don’t like the T1. When the Model T, now called the T1, came out in 2019, I bought one immediately. I was excited. It was a disappointment almost from the start. Clunky, unpredictable, bad blade alignment, chatter. I tried to like it. Couldn’t.
A couple of years later, the T2 came out. I bought three, got an early pre-sale discount, gave one to a friend, sold one, kept the other. Still have it. The T2 is better than the T1, but I said it then, and I’ll say it again: I don’t recommend it. Less clunky, sure, but still unreliable on chatter and blade alignment.

Full Disclosure First
I’m going to be honest with you the way I’d want a reviewer to be honest with me. I did not pay for the three razors in this box. Rockwell reached out to me directly. Inside should be an aluminum black, an aluminum silver with a matching stand, and a stainless steel with a matching stand. Three razors, three stands, none of it purchased. The links in the description are affiliate links.
It means something that Rockwell reached out at all. I’ve been a fan of theirs for years, and they watched my 6S review, the one where I said I wasn’t happy with the T1 or the T2 but that I love the 6S. If I could only keep one razor, it might be the 6S, especially on plate four or five. That’s enough.
So I could sit here and blow smoke and tell you this is the best thing since sliced bread. I’m not doing that. This is an unboxing. I’m not shaving with it here.
What’s In the Box

Paper out, three razors sitting there. I’m giving two of these away to members of my Discord; I’ve already told the guys there. I’ll use the aluminum and the stainless steel in upcoming videos. Each box comes with a five-pack of Rockwell blades included, so you’re getting blades either way. I like Rockwell’s blades fine. They’ve never been my favorite, but I’ll use them for this review.
From what I can see, these are made in China, which is part of how Rockwell keeps the price down. I’ll say it: I’m surprised to see an adjustable razor made of stainless steel land at that price point in 2026.

The aluminum is 6061-T6 and weighs 42 grams. The stainless is 316L and comes in noticeably heavier, over double the weight of the aluminum. Both razors share the same overall height. The only difference is the material and the weight that comes with it.
Two-Piece, Not TTO
Here’s the real design change. The T2 is a one-piece, twist-to-open razor. The Setpoint is a two-piece, closer to the Rex Ambassador. You unscrew the bottom knob and the top pulls straight off.

What Rockwell is saying with this design is that they heard the complaints. Mine included. Going only off the product page, never having shaved with it, my understanding is this should feel close to the 6S experience. The difference is the adjustment dial is continuous instead of stepped. You’re not locked to just setting three or just setting four anymore. You get the room in between: three and a quarter, three and a half, wherever you want to land. The gap opens up as you dial higher, topping out at 1.10mm on setting six.

Twist-to-open razors are cool. That mechanism has real nostalgia built in, and even without the nostalgia, twist-to-open is still a fun format. But it has a design tradeoff: blade clamping. Guys have told me for years they never got chatter out of the T2. I don’t know how. I got it, and not occasionally. Guys have also asked me why I never reviewed the T2. Simple answer: I don’t like it. But looking at this design, a two-piece with a real clamping surface instead of a twist mechanism, I think we’re going to get a different experience out of this one.

The One I’m Keeping
I’m keeping the black aluminum and giving away the stainless steel and the silver aluminum. Opened the black one up and it’s gorgeous. Rockwell logo on it, and it is light. 42 grams, barely there in the hand.

The action on this thing is smooth. CNC-machined, and I expect the same clamping here as the stainless, just in a lighter package. Already noticed I had to push down a little to seat it, where the stainless steel head’s weight basically held itself in place before. There’s a bit of play in the mechanism too. Rockwell put a spring down in the bottom plate, so there’s some give built in by design, not a defect.
I want to thank Rockwell again for sending these out. The affiliate link in the description earns me a commission if you use it, and I put that money straight back into the channel. I didn’t pay for any of these razors or stands. They were sent to me for review.

What’s Next
I can’t wait to actually shave with these. I’ll get a shave video out soon, and I want to film an outdoor video with the Setpoint too in the next few days. At least three videos are coming out of this one box.
Thanks for watching. See you in the next one.
