Yaqi Pinacolada Chillers: Summer Shave with the Caveem
Hi there, welcome back. It’s Tuesday. It’s been super hot here all day, highs in the 80s with some humidity, and we’re going heavy menthol. Again.
I’m using the Yaqi Pinacolada Chillers, made by Master Soap Creations. I love this scent. Pineapple and coconut, and super mentholated. Very, very nice. It’s in the newest formula. The Pinacolada Chillers and the rest of Yaqi’s menthol soaps get less attention than the dessert scents, and that’s a mistake. This is a really good soap base. Tallow-based and super slick.
The setup
The brush is the Yaqi Ice Tea brush, preloaded. It has a 26mm synthetic knot with the newest synthetic fiber from Yaqi. I don’t think that fiber has a special name. What it has is a super soft feel and a perfect backbone.
Razor is the Caveem, champagne color, with a Tatra Platinum on its third use. Light and nice. Long handle, great balance point, super smooth. No blade feel to speak of. I don’t know the specifics of the blade gap, but it feels very mild and comfortable. I find it ideal for daily shaves. It would make a great first razor for someone just starting out.
Lathering up
The Pinacolada Chillers base is a little soft, so the brush picks up a lot of product fast. I probably overloaded the brush. Spray in some water and paint it on, and what comes out is very dense. Very creamy. Look how it keeps its shape. Very shiny too.
On my personal menthol scale from 1 to 10, where 1 is not noticeable, and 10 is unbearable, I’d put this at a 5 or 6. The cooling kicks in the moment you apply the lather. Sea temperatures here are around 70 degrees Fahrenheit, 21 Celsius, which is lovely. The air is another story. Heat records in some parts of the country right now, and quite humid on top of it. The menthol is doing good work.
The shave
The first pass goes great. The lather is hydrated. You can see it flying off the razor, which is always a good sign of a hydrated lather. Very slick.
While I work on the second pass, some news: my country’s team is out of the World Cup. Lost to England in the quarterfinal. We would never come that far in a world championship, so it was still something. Now it’s England versus Argentina and France versus Spain in the semis, played Wednesday and Thursday, with the final on Saturday. Good football coming up.
I also ran intervals this morning. Still getting back after a cold, and I probably went too early. Felt knackered the whole rest of the day. Always listen to your body. I didn’t, and I paid for it.
Second pass. The menthol strength builds with each application. Third and last pass, against the grain. The nose starts to run a little. Classic mentholated soap. A little buffing for cleanup and I think we’re good. That is very, very close.

The aftershave
Big dash of the Pinacolada Chillers splash. Very tropical, strong scent. Then it goes to burning. Then the skin goes numb. This stuff is insane. My eyes are watering just talking about it.
The splash runs colder than the soap. If the lather menthol was a 5 or 6, the splash is an 8. On a day like this, that’s exactly right.
If you’ve been sleeping on the Yaqi menthol line because the dessert scents always grab your eye first, give the Piña Colada Chillers a look. The tallow base is genuinely good, and the aftershave is serious. Both are on AliExpress. The Caveem keeps impressing me as a daily razor, very mild, very smooth, worth a look, especially if you’re newer to double-edge shaving.
