Subtle Art Soap has a summer drop incoming: SEND IT!, a limited release built around mountain biking. Joe calls it the one passion he hadn’t written a soap around yet.

Joe’s been tying soaps to things he actually cares about for years. Coast Guard service gave him Mid Cape Barber and Following Seas. A Vermont restaurant and distillery became Maple Bourbon. A family cancer journey became Athena, the Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser. Skiing gave him Black Diamond. Road cycling had Tour de Citron, now discontinued. Mountain biking was the one gap in the lineup. That changes this summer.

Send It! Soap label

“Send it” is trail talk for full commitment on a difficult feature - no hesitation, no pulling back. The name fits.

Joe describes the result as green, fresh, floral, slightly woodsy, and slightly musky. A day in the woods on a bike. He notes he left out the chain oil, dirt, and mud.

The announced scent notes:

Green Accord, Rosemary, Cumin, Jasmine, Iris, Orange Blossom, Sandalwood (Royal Hawaiian), Dark Patchouli, Oak Moss Musk

Cumin in a fresh-green soap is a choice. Done right it grounds the florals and keeps things from going too pretty - done wrong and it veers medicinal. Green accord and rosemary up top with jasmine and iris in the middle should lean earthy-floral rather than synthetic-clean. Dark patchouli and oak moss musk at the base ought to anchor the whole thing in something outdoorsy and a little rugged. Sandalwood Royal Hawaiian tends to run creamy, which could smooth out the edges. On paper, this has the bones for something interesting. Nobody’s shaved with it yet.
